[MBA] Identifying the Factors Affecting Career Development of Virtual Newcomers: Evidence From the IT Industry (Defence)

Telework, well known as remote work, was first initiated in 1970. With the Covid 19 pandemic discontinuing most of the organizations’ usual business activities, tele-work became the only viable solution so the trend continued even in the post-Covid era. With telework becoming the default work attending model, it made virtual onboarding also a must to be implemented. As the behavior and the outcome of virtual onboarding are not thoroughly researched and studied learning about that subset of IT sector employees was considered important. Considering career development as one of the most important goals and targets for any employee who is in the workforce this research is evaluating the factors that virtually new organization-joined employees’ careers are influenced by. This research will help the IT sector by identifying the most important factors that are to be considered once any IT employee joins an organization virtually, So they can focus more on those factors to make sure that they are directed to the correct path in their careers. This study follows a quantitative approach, reaching the responders through an online questionnaire. Included questions were selected by observing multiple literature sources and other knowledge sources. This research will evaluate various factors like productivity, Health, and income, and then decide how strongly they affect and influence the employee’s career development. Collecting data in a wide range of areas such as different experience levels, Job roles, Infrastructure satisfaction levels, and many other demographic areas ensured an unbiased research outcome. Ultimately this study will help IT organizations plan out a program for employees who are newly recruited considering the various factors that will have effects on those employees’ career development. Then managers will be able to prioritize and help to enhance the factors that affect the career development of those considered employees.
